Board and Staff

Meet Our Team

Much of what sustains Innisfree happens in the day-to-day operations. Our staff guide these efforts, support life-sharing, and help shape the future of the village. Coming from many different walks of life and bringing a wide range of experiences — including some who began their journey as volunteers themselves — our staff offer diverse perspectives, skills, and support. Through their dedication, thoughtful leadership, and commitment to our mission, they help Innisfree remain a vibrant, connected, and meaningful community for everyone who calls it home.

  • Director of Development

Larry Goldstein is in his third and favorite career as the director of development for Innisfree Village.  He began on March 1, 2024 after 18 months working as a senior consultant with Scott Williams of Panorama Consulting to collaborate with Rorie Hutter and the Innisfree board to build a Development program.  In addition to working with Panorama, Larry co-founded a  consulting firm that focused on board governance, fundraising and strategic planning.  It was called The Board Whisperers.  Before that, Larry finished his 23 year career at Tandem Friends School by dividing his time between directing theater and leading their development program.  Before becoming a teacher, Larry’s first career was touring his one man show around the country, co-founding Live Arts in Charlottesville and building a playback theater company.

Larry arrived in Charlottesville in 1980 and by the mid-80’s he was performing with his dear storytelling friend, Michael Parent, out at Innisfree.  He likes to think that he started and ended his three careers here at Innisfree.

She holds a culinary arts degree from the Rel Maples Institute for Culinary Arts (2005) and a bachelor’s in Business Management and Marketing from East Tennessee State University (2008).

Julie is also the owner and artist behind Anam Cara Clay Goods, a handmade jewelry business dedicated to creating art that inspires, celebrates individuality, and make a positive impact in meaningful ways within her community.

Originally from East Tennessee, Julie lives in Waynesboro, VA with her husband Josh, their cat Pearl, and dog Saydi.

  • Activities Coordinator

Carol came to Innisfree in 2005 as a volunteer caregiver and lived in Meadow house for 3 years. Previously she worked as an elementary school P.E. teacher in Washington D.C. and before then as bicycle messenger and bicycle tour guide. Somehow this makes her Masters In Education from Boston College and undergraduate degree from University of Pittsburgh all the more relevant. Enjoying variety, Carol has held many positions in Innisfree: caregiver, hospice helper, fitness trainer, water aerobics instructor, house manager and now Activities Coordinator. MayFair and the Innisfree Musicfest are her favorite days.

At home, Carol enjoys putzing in her own garden as well as bicycling, hiking, and camping with her husband Tom and their 2 dogs.
