Our Community Mission

Innisfree’s Mission is pretty simple: to provide a lifesharing home and work environment in an atmosphere of beauty, warmth, and respectfulness. There are ways that mission is lived out within the community you may not know about if you don’t live at Innisfree, so read on to find out more about that mission is applied every day!

  • Coworkers (residents) have the right and power to make choices, big and small. From picking out clothes to choosing weekend activities, each decision helps strengthen their sense of self. Innisfree volunteers support these choices, advocating for coworkers’ independence and preferences. By listening to and actively engaging with each other, Innisfree volunteers understand the unique wants and needs of each person, helping them make informed decisions in their daily lives.

  • Whether it's organizing group activities or coordinating shared responsibilities, volunteers create opportunities for coworkers to come together, support one another, and build meaningful connections. Through shared experiences and mutual support, residents develop a sense of belonging and interconnectedness that transcends individual differences. Never underestimate the community building power of a good dance party!

  • Volunteers not only give their time and skills; they become vital parts of a lively community focused on fostering independence, dignity, and happiness. Teamwork is central to daily activities, special events, creative projects, and caregiving. No one can do it alone, and life at Innisfree Village is a shared effort!

  • Lifesharing can be challenging! We are here to learn and grow together, to find ways to support each others’ strengths and hold space for hard feelings. Productivity and efficiency are not necessarily the goal at Innisfree. Though we will always strive towards progress, some days need extra support and there is time for that in a lifesharing environment.
